FAQs

What is vibroacoustic therapy and how does it work?

Vibroacoustic therapy (VAT) is an FDA-recognized therapy that uses low-frequency sound vibrations to promote relaxation, well-being, and healing. VAT involves lying on a comfortable specialized sound bed that is equipped with sensors/transceivers that emit low-frequency sound vibrations. These vibrations create a therapeutic effect on the body and mind.

What type of VAT sessions do you offer?

We offer traditional, contemporary, and custom vibroacoustic therapy using specialized sound beds. Traditional VAT does not incorporate music or use headphones. Contemporary VAT does incorporate music and headphones. Custom sessions involve using any chosen audio, like ASMR or a client's personal music. Your practitioner can assist you in choosing the most effective and enjoyable session for your needs and preferences.

What are the benefits of VAT and who should try it?

Vibroacoustic therapy allows the nervous system to reset itself. It has been proven to increase circulation, reduce pain, and improve mobility. It can also enhance cognition, alleviate stress and anxiety, and improve sleep quality. Almost anyone can benefit from VAT. It's especially helpful for people that would benefit from: stress management, decreased anxiety, increased circulation, improved mobility, sharper mental clarity, enhanced sleep, and metabolic increase, among others.

Who should not try VAT?

VAT is generally considered safe for most people. However, it is not recommended for individuals with Cochlear implants, epilepsy, acute inflammatory conditions, psychotic conditions, pregnancy, thrombosis, hypotonia, and low blood pressure.

How should I prepare for a VAT session?

Wear comfortable clean clothes and socks that support ease of movement. Don’t wear anything that may puncture or scratch the sound bed. Drink plenty of water before your session. VAT activates digestion and circulation, and being well-hydrated will help you feel your best. You can also think of an intention or goals you wish to achieve with your session. Common goals include stress reduction, pain management, mental clarity, relaxation, releasing the past, being fully present, and better sleep.

Are VAT treatments HSA/FSA eligible?

Vibroacoustic therapy may qualify for HSA/FSA reimbursement when supported by a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN). We are happy to work with you and your physician to craft one or we have partnered with Flex to help simplify obtaining an LMN and using your HSA/FSA benefits.

"I attended the ribbon cutting ceremony and got a mini vibroacoustic therapy session. Those 12 minutes were sensational. I emerged from the session with the urge to cry—not because I was sad, but because I felt an emotional release that made me feel lighter and more at ease! I would recommend to anyone interested in trying a new form of therapy. :)"
